Dr. Resnik received his BA at Yale University and MD at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Following his residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital, he served in the United States Army as Chief of Obstetrics at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He then did a fellowship in Perinatal Medicine at the University of Colorado.

 

     In 1974, Dr. Resnik joined the faculty at the University of California, San Diego, as Assistant Professor in the Department of Reproductive Medicine, and Director of the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine. In 1983, he became Professor and Department Chairman at UCSD and served in that capacity until 1995. He has also served as Dean for Clinical Affairs and as Associate Dean for Admissions in the School of Medicine at UCSD.

 

     During his career, Dr. Resnik has served on the Residency Review Committee in ObGyn, the Council for Residency Education in ObGyn (CREOG), as well as Vice Chair of the Obstetrical Practice Committee for American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). He also served as an examiner for the general and maternal-fetal medicine oral examinations for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology for 25 years, as well as a consultant to the Neonatal Subspecialty Board for the American Board of Pediatrics.

 

     Dr. Resnik has served as President of several professional organizations, including the Perinatal Research Society, the American Gynecological Club, the San Diego Gynecological Society, and in 2009-2010 the American Gynecological and Obstetrical Society . He has also been a member of Council of the Society for Gynecologic Investigation (SGI)

 

     He has published more than 100 scientific papers and is co-editor of the textbook Creasy and Resnik’s “Maternal-Fetal Medicine: Principles and Practice” which is now in it’s sixth edition.

 

     Dr. Resnik is listed in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Medicine and Health Care, and Best Doctors in America. He is an honorary member of the New England Ob-Gyn Society, the Pacific Northwest OB-Gyn Society and the Southwest Ob-Gyn Society. In 2002, he was elected ad eundem to the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, United Kingdom, and in 2004 received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine. In 2006, he was the recipient of the Outstanding Mentor Award from the UCSD School of Medicine.
